The Langdale Estate nestles in mature woodland beside a mountain stream at the foot of the spectacular Langdale Valley, close to villages of Elterwater and Chapel Stile. It is easy to find, and the road that serves the valley passes alongside.
Founded on the site of an abandoned 19th century gunpowder works, and
dotted with massive millstones and other carefully preserved reminders
of its history, the Estate offers a choice of hotel, lodge and apartment
accommodation, two restaurants, a traditional Lakelamd pub and leisure
facilities. Landale is recognised for its sensitivity to the environment
and its commitment to the Lake District, supporting a variety of lacal
conservation programmes and the Mountain Resue service.
